Mr Brian Tan is the Corporate Vice President, Applied Materials Inc. and Regional President, Applied Materials Southeast Asia. He oversees the company’s operations and strategy in the Southeast Asia in helping to build strategic partnerships across the private and public sectors as well as enabling customers’ success across Asia. Mr Tan has significant contributions to the semiconductor industry and played a pivotal role in establishing Singapore as a key R&D, manufacturing and customer support hub. Under his leadership, Mr Tan strengthens collaboration between Applied Materials and research institutions where he oversaw the establishment of joint labs with Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and academia with the establishment of a corporate lab with the National University of Singapore (NUS). Furthermore, Mr Tan was elected to the board of Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) since 2018 and is appointed as chairman in 2024. In addition, Mr Tanserves on the Future of Microelectronics steering committee under the Manufacturing, Trade and Connectivity domain in Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2025 where he was instrumental in shaping the direction of Singapore’s semiconductor industry. Mr Tan is on the National Environment Agency (NEA) Board. He also serves on the Advisory Board of National University of Singapore (NUS) College of Design & Engineering (CDE) and recently in the School of Continuing and Lifelong Education (SCALE) to support his passion in education and talent development. Brian received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from the National University of Singapore.
